The Coat & Bear is on the ground floor of a Georgian building with a listed frontage. The name of the pub with rooms is a nod to the Newbury-born Michael Bond, author of the beloved character Paddington Bear, as well as the historic Newbury Coat of 1811. A Heartwood Inn, the pub opened on 29 October 2024.
